Forces
This is my free body diagram. As you can the cart is at an incline and will roll down the ramp. Newton's 2nd Law states that It is applicable only if the force is the net external force. It does not apply directly to situations where the mass is changing, either from loss or gain of material, or because the object is traveling close to the speed of light where relativistic effects must be included. It does not apply directly on the very small scale of the atom where quantum mechanics must be used. In the situation of the cart, gravity and the inclined plane are both acting on the cart creating the external net force. KINEMATICS
- - v=delta(x)/delta(t) or v=v(0)+v/2 -This equation can be used to find out the relationship between vf=vi+at -Final Velocity is important and with this equation you figure out the final velocity of the cart. vf^2=vi^2+2a🗻 - With this equation, you can plug in the numbers to figure of final velocity. Energy Kinetic energy equation: KE=1/2mv^2 Gravitational Potential Energy: U=mgh The law of conservations explains how energy can not be created nor destroyed. I feel that this is true because if you think about; the cart was has the potential to roll or move and no matter you can't take that away. The cart will always be able to move or toll around. |
